Book Review - Where Am I Now by Mara Wilson

In today’s edition of books our best friend, I review the book “Where Am I Now?: True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame” by Mara Wilson.

The readers will find this book poignant, funny and honest. The former child actresses Roxane Gay and Allie Brosh who starred in Mrs. Doubtfire and Matilda share their stories from her life in this book.
Mara Wilson has always felt that she is younger than what her number tells her and not suitable for the place. She was the only kid on a movie set where there are all adults. The home she was born in was full of boys. She was a Valley girl in New York who grew on to become a neurotic in California.
“Where Am I Now?: True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame” by Mara Wilson tells us about what she learned about sex when she was at the sets of Melrose Place. When she became an adult, everyone labeled her that she is not cute enough to be taken in Hollywood.
The chapters in the book takes the readers on a journey where Mara Wilson became famous accidently and her relative obscurity. The book also highlights the struggles that are part of everyone’s life including steering through loss and love.
It is about finding out as to who you are and to where you belong. “Where Am I Now?: True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame” by Mara Wilson is hilarious, candid and insightful. It is a brilliant work that tells the readers about the experiences of a female as she grows up.
