Book Reviews - Gunslinger by Jeff Pearlman

Gunslinger is a book written by a New York Times best-selling author Jeff Pearlman and is a complete and definitive biography of Brett Favre. The book tells the story of a player whose career spanned for two decades and is known as the last cowboys of the game.

He has now breezed into the Hall of Fame, but as long as he played with full vigor and refused to submit without a fight. It is because of the dedication by this peerless quarterback that Green Bay Packers went to two Super Bowls and won in one. On their way to victory, countless NFL records were broken.
This is the first time fans of Brett Favre will get to read about his story in the book Gunslinger, which has been written after interviewing more than five hundred people. Many of the people that are being interviewed are close friends of Favre.
Jeff Pearlman describes about the journey of this phenomenal NFL player starting from the rough rural childhood to high school football career and from being awarded the last scholarship at Southern Mississippi to a car accident in which his life was almost over.
Slowly but surely, Favre moved back to usual life and was taken up by NFL Atlanta Falcons before he was taken up by Green Bay. He took the game to an all new level and restored the greatness of Packers and accumulated a fan base that was highly passionate about the game.
Bad luck did not left him away, as in his personal life he struggled with infidelity, addiction and the loss of his father. His exit from the game he loved so much was filled with pain and he had to move away from the game even though he didn’t want to.
The book Gunslinger is grand, gritty and revelatory and makes for a wonderful sports biography. It tells the story about a man who has a rocket arm, and of a life that is filled with tragedy, fame, triumph, embarrassment and redemption.
